Coaching Disclaimer

Draft: review with an attorney.

If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (US) to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Do not wait for a coaching session.

Coaching is not therapy

Coaching is a forward-looking professional relationship focused on performance, decision making, skills, and how you handle pressure at work. It is not therapy, psychotherapy, counseling, psychiatric treatment, medical care, or a substitute for any of those. Dr. James DeMory holds a doctorate in business administration (DBA). He is not a licensed mental health professional and does not diagnose or treat any condition.

What that means in practice

  • We work on goals, habits, decisions, and the pressure around them.
  • We use research as a lens for understanding your situation, not as a clinical assessment.
  • Intake questionnaires are development tools. They are not diagnostic instruments and produce no clinical finding.
  • If something clinical appears to be in the room, I will say so plainly and encourage you to see a licensed professional. I can continue coaching alongside that care where appropriate.

No guarantee

No specific outcome is promised: not quota attainment, not a promotion, not income, not a particular feeling. What is promised is honest attention and preparation.

Emergencies

Coaching is not an emergency service. If you are at risk of harming yourself or someone else, call 911 (US) or call or text 988. Outside the US, contact your local emergency number.

Employer-sponsored coaching

Where an employer pays, they receive confirmation that sessions occurred. They do not receive session content.
